Vacation Time Tip

You'll soon begin preparing for your vacation. Once you're lying on the beach or exploring new areas, are you going to want to take time to write all those post cards you promised everyone back home? I found that, although my intentions are good when I buy the cards, the task of addressing and writing them can become overwhelming.

Since I still want folks I care about to receive a little note from me. I've found a simple, though admittedly controversial, way to streamline the process. (No, I don't have preprinted cards made!) In preparing for my trip, I print out address labels for everyone to whom I want to send a card. Because this makes the process go quickly, I find this helps boost my attitude about writing the cards, and lets me be more descriptive in my correspondence.

For the labels, I choose a font that is close to handwriting, yet can easily be read by foreign postal workers (like this one, called Nadine). In order to speed overseas mail, my software will even put the "PostNet" bar code along the bottom. This will help prevent that unpleasant feeling you get when you arrive home before your postcards get to your friends.

"Why is this controversial?" you ask. Well, my husband doesn't think it's personal enough. My argument is if I don't do this I will return home with many cards I'd intended to send, but I got too tired or too busy to complete. Then I'd just have to hand them to my friends!
